Last week, I was called by my Big Boss to sit in for him for an Interview Appointment, as he was on the way to KL for meeting.

First thing in my mind, i was hmmmm what to ask? .... i even googled to see what kind of question to ask (to that extend). Thinking back in those days when i was interviewed by my superior then, it was pretty much easy question. At this era, many employer has think (out of box) question and try to dig as much info as possible from the candidate.

Nonetheless, having said that; all potential candidate definitely will praise and say wonders in order to get the job , right ? It is the responsibility for the Employer to evaluate the candidate for first 15-20min interview session. With that said, that was the pressure i uphold for my boss, what if i screw up ? what if i took in the wrong candidate in ? What if when i report to him about the candidate, then he ask me decide and i made the wrong choice. (ohhh did i mention, i have 3 candidates to interview for the 1 post) pressure was definitely there.

Come to that day, i was kinda prepared for it, but somehow deep down i was not actually. It looks like , i was the one going for an interview. An hour before the Interview, i prepared my question actually with the help of Mr Google plus my own Question. So i print 3 set of the question, when answered i will write it down for my boss to evaluate.

Please note that those "Get To Know" question or other people called "Break the Ice" question was also ask such as , How many Brother and sister? Where are you from ? What is Hobby during free time? and etc ...

Job Post - Sales & Reservation Assistant

So here below are my Top 6 Topic (Question) to ask during a Job Interview to help me evaluate on the best Candidate.

1. Social Media
   Do you have Facebook, Instagram, Twitter or any Social Media Network ?
   If Yes, How many Friends/Followers to do you have Fb and Insta?
   How often you post in FB and Insta ?
   Goal: To know whether he/she is social media friendly or not; as this job requires to TALK and SALES. Shy personality is definitely a NO NO. To see also candidate whether has the reaching out value to friends and families.

2. Why did you apply for this Job ?
   Goal : To establish a a sense of worthiness and responsibility from the candidate.

3. What do you think of the current system of Tourism Business now in Sabah?
   Goal : Its a broad subject however we can access and see the level understanding in what area of Tourism they know; be it Government laws, Hotels, Tour Booking , Illegals Tour Van, or anything. Its to establish on how deep the knowledge that the candidate has in Tourism sector today.

4. Where do you see yourself in the next 5 years ??
   Goal : To see a clear confidence of the candidate has , be it married, success, opening a Travel Agent and etc. Employers always prefer a long term staff.

5. Why did you resign from your previous company ?
   Goal: To see where candidate comes from Point of View. In terms unsatisfactory salary, no challenge, or period just hate my ex boss.
   You see, Kota Kinabalu (KK) , travel agent owners and staff is a close knit community (where almost everybody knows everybody) Business crosses and link to most Tour Operator and Travel Agent in KK.

6. Why Should we hire you??
   Goal : To see the values of the candidate, on willing to learn , listen and pro-active to the job role.

From here we can see the candidate character and personality deeper. It may be short 15-20min interview, but we wont take a long time for the interview. Nonetheless, there are many other simple question that i ask before going deeper. Nonetheless as i say before this only the crucial topic / question i believe help me to decide the best candidate.
