First Place: Feminist Fire by @trucklife-family
you will not make me hang my head in shame,
we may even have been turned against one another
but we all feel the pain.
our many forms begin to take shape,
we are no longer a people in denial
we have found our way to escape.

Second Place: My Anger is a Factory by @lilyraabe
my anger is a factory
when the power is out
the darkness sets in
i am sorrow
i am rage
i am vulnerability
then i am alone
and it is up to me
will i be consumed by the darkness?
sometimes.

Third Place: Cave to the Current: the Feminine Fight by @ambrosial
I'm screaming in my mind
And broken in the heart
When will I be equal
I should've been from the start
My voice is being heard
And silenced all at once
For if I speak too loudly
So begin the witch hunts

In the words of Audre Lorde: “Poetry is not only dream and vision; it is the skeleton architecture of our lives. It lays the foundations for a future of change, a bridge across our fears of what has never been before.” To everyone who entered, we feel privileged that you shared your truths with us, and we are glad to share community with you. ❤️
Once again, we will have a Wild Card/Honorable Mention winner, chosen by the #teamgirlpowa community, who will receive 2 STEEM. How it works: we post the eligible entries in the comments, and you upvote your favorite one. Easy as pie. Voting will be open until Sunday 30 April at 11pm EDT, so scroll on down to cast your vote and promote your favorite to win! (It’s a great way to close out National Poetry Writing Month, if you’re based in the US. )
Thanks again everybody, and congratulations to our winners!

OMG, I took 2 days away from steemit and came back to this!!!! I am so incredibly honored to have been chosen for this particular contest! I never enter these, but this one completely spoke to me. I had so much fun writing for this (the first time I’ve written a poem in years) and reading the other entries -- some truly amazing work was generated!
I apologize for the delay on this, but congratulations to @solarsupermama for winning the Wild Card Vote!
