RE: Australian MP's Paypackets and Benefits - The Great Australian Rort

I'm really grateful you mentioned asylum seekers. No asylum seeker is an illegal immigrant. The "illegal" attached to asylum was created by the govt and propagated by the media. It is a slanderous 100% lie to falsely create an imaginary boogieman to trick Australians into voting for people who have feudal policies. Now Australia has political prisoners. Same as China and other countries we lecture about human rights.
There is no "right way" to seek asylum in Australia. You can't board a plane headed here without obtaining a visa prior. If you have a tourist visa and then stay and claim asylum, it is frowned upon and you won't get it under this govt. If you come by legal boat , the restrictions are the same. So how are people supposed to claim asylum here? Get to another country and go through the UNHCR? It will take 3 years for humanitarian visa application to even be looked at, and by that time you will be told you are safe where you are, so you can't come here. Stay in your country and die? Seriously that is what their political policy is, which is being proven by the fact that they have told the legitimate refugees on Manus to go back or stay on Manus where the people hate them, one has already been stabbed for his phone. Manus is very very poor and small. It is horrendous to do that the refugees AND the people of Manus.
An official complaint has been lodged with the ICC about Dutton, Morrisson, Turnbull and others including members of the Labor party that have broken laws and violated human rights.

Thanks for replying with such passion. I am always disgusted when ill informed people make decisions (voters) about something that is spoon fed to them by mainstream media. 'Boat people' make up a very small % of asylum seekers yet those arriving by plane are never referred to in the media. It's just a scam to win voters and elections. There are no ethics in politics!

Exactly. I've been living this for nearly three years. My husband is an abandoned Afghan interpreter. I'm all up in the asylum seeker activist crowd. The really f**ked up thing is I have to keep a low profile now to not upset the freakin apple cart, visa wise. The corruption is just overwhelming. They just hide it well and Australians have it good compared to most of the world, so cognitive dissonance abounds. One name stands out above them all Rupert Murdoch.

Don't be ridiculous. Corruption is something that happens in bad countries.
Australia is full of good, noble public servants. I learned all about this in school and haven't thought about it since, so it's clearly true.
