RE: How I quit my job to become a professional photographer
Thank you for sharing your inspiring story! I'm glad things are working out for you, and I'm impressed at the rapidity with which you've grown both your artistic abilities and your business. I'm in the same boat as you were not too long ago, or maybe I should say that I recently jumped off the same boat to follow you into the raging waters of full-time photography. I'm not business or marketing-minded but I'm getting there, slower than I could but still with hope, and as I try to keep my head above the water I'll be buoyed up by posts like this. It's reassuring to see other landscape photographers find their way. :)
Photographers and business very rarely come hand in hand. Most of us struggle. When it does work you get people like Peter Lik and Ken Duncan. Not bad brands to aspire to :)
Very true - it wouldn't hurt to aspire to Peter Lik levels of success but be content to fall a little short. I would love to make a quiet living at this. :)
Derek nice to hear your story also.
