Pulmonary Tuberculosis

Pulmonary Tuberculosis is a contagious infection which is caused by Mycobacterium Tuberculosis ; typical organism for TB infection.

Primarily it involves the human lung but it can also spread to other organs such as- brain,stomach,kidney,bone etc.

Clinical Features of Pulmonary TB:
1/ Cough more than 3 weeks
2/ Low grade fever
3/ Evening rise of temperature
4/ Anorexia
5/ Weight loss
6/ Sometimes they are associated with hemoptysis (blood mixed sputum) , night sweat and occasional breathlessness.

Radiological Findings of Pulmonary TB:
1/ Patchy opacity in the upper lobes (apex) of the lung , near the hilar area (hilar lymphadenopathy is seen) or even any other area in the lung field.
2/ Sometimes, Cavitation and lung collapse are also seen.

Pulmonary TB is a curable disease.
