Magnetic Propeller | English | Fun with Magnets
This magnetic propeller spins as you blow. The pen in the middle keeps standing and does not fall. Why? To understand this, let’s make a model. You will need 4 ring magnets, wooden rods, bottle caps and a pen. First drill three holes in the shape of an equilateral triangle and make a DENT in a wooden base. Then stick 3 bottle caps on the back of the base with rubber glue to make a stand. Arrange 4 ring magnets such the middle magnet repels the outer three magnets. Press fit the middle magnet at the back end of a pen. Then apply rubber glue on the tops of all 3 wooden rods and stick the three magnets in the same orientation. Then place the pen point in the DENT. Twirl the pen and it will spin without falling. Now fix a ready made plastic propeller on the back end of the pen. Stand the pen-propeller between the other three magnets. On placing it under the ceiling fan the propeller will keep spinning eternally. The pen will stand on one leg and will not fall because the outer three magnets repel it and push it inside. On blowing the whole toy will spin in a most delightful manner.
