Thousands of years - Chinese typical dish
The thousand-year-old egg, the omelet, was accidentally discovered by a farmer in the Ming dynasty. The egg is preserved intact under mud and lime, husk. After a few months, the yolk will become dark green, grayish, with an aroma of sulfur and ammonia. The whites are orange, or dark brown, with translucent flesh and slightly salty. In the past, this dish is often offered to the king or only used in the New Year, festivals or guests. Today, the thousand-year-old egg is a popular dish with porridge for breakfast.
