The Statue

in #talktotransformer6 years ago (edited)

The statue of Jesus was placed here because of her association with Jerusalem. After the war with Rome, it was stolen from Jerusalem. We're very concerned about this." – Rev. Peter Pappas, Director of Religious Concerns

This latest statue had been on display for over a year, and, after weeks of constant vandalism and even the partial destruction of the historic Christian town, the museum had no choice but to take the statue down. When they did, they didn't take it down without offering an apology to the local resident.

The statue is now part of a small park dedicated to the memory of Jesus, located at the intersection of East 6th Street and East 13th Avenue. One can see the statue and surrounding neighborhood on Google Streetview.

The local residents also took to Twitter in an effort to make it clear that they have their feelings. One person wrote, "We do agree with you and the museum, and we are disappointed that these things have happened without our consent."
