SYScoins Missing After Transfer to Paper Wallet

in #syscoin7 years ago (edited)

After quite a few people seem to be having an issue with Syscoin paper wallets I have posted my resolution.

I originally used walletgenerator.net to create a paper wallet for SYScoin

I (stupidly) sent all my coins in one go (I normally test first) from an exchange to my Paper Wallet public address.

the transaction ID showed up on SYS explorer - https://chainz.cryptoid.info/sys/ but the public key showed ZERO coins

having spoken directly to the fantastic SYScoin support team via Facebook chat, they advised me how to recover the coins:

STEPS

1- download the SYS wallet from http://syscoin.org/
2- when you open syscoin wallet it automatically creates a public key, so you then need to create a passphrase with NO SPACES or Special characters by going to Settings>Encrypt Wallet and ensure you save this passphrase as its essential
3- Wait for Blockchain to fully sync (you can check by checking the bottom-right of the Syscoin Wallet window
4- Open Help>Debug Window>Console
5- Type "walletpassphrase [your password] 300" to unlock the wallet (dont use the speech marks or brackets)
6- Import your private key by typing "importprivkey [the private key]"
7 - if its worked it will say Scanning and will successfully import your coins

NOTE: IF YOU USED BIP38 encryption and set a passphrase on your private key you will need to go back to the paper wallet generator and decrypt the key by clicking on "Wallet Details" and then enter the private key and the passphrase and then use the 51 key private key to import into Syscoin wallet and VOILA it worked.

Many thanks to SYScoin support
