The Never Ending Story
Mauricio Fiol holds several Peruvian national records and won a silver medal at the 2015 Pan American Games in the 200 meter butterfly event. He's the second swimmer failing the doping test ant the Pan American Games. The other swimmer is Mauricio Gonzalez from Chile. He tested positive for marijuana.
Here the story starts to be interesting because Fiol tested positive for Stanozolol after the race and was stripped of the medal. Doping always has further consequences and in Fiol's case he was banned for four years and also disqualified from participating in the 2016 Olympics.
Stanozolol is used for physique- and performance-enhancing purposes by competitive athletes, bodybuilders, and powerlifters source
Looks like history repeats itself, don't you think? He denied both times taking the drug but then again, what are the odds of failing the drug test for the same substance twice? If he is guilty, then this was a very stupid move. he should have known better as he got a four year ban already and now he can get another one for eight years this time. This can end his career.
Ben Johnson was stripped of his medal at the Summer Olympics in 1988 held in Seoul as he tested positive for stanozolol. Six field athletes also tested positive for stanozolol. This happened at Turkey's national university championships held in May 2013 at Bursa. The International Olympic Committee (IOC) retested doping samples from both London 2012 and Beijing 2008. This action led to banning 104 athletes, 52 of which were stripped of the Olympic medal. 52 were for the use of stanozolol.
I wish to see the day when there's no doping at the Olympic Games or at the World Championship because all the athletes are clean.
I am with you on a clean Olympic games, but I do believe it will never happen. Change will only happen when proper testing can be done.
This is like robbers and coppers. Robbers will always be one step ahead.
You are probably right about that .
