Sustainability & Money Part 2
Sustainability became my main concern after the financial collapse of 2008. In my last/ first blog I mentioned we bailed out the Federal Reserve, which isn’t entirely true. We bailed out the banks that operate under the Federal Reserve because of bad investments on Wall Street. However the more I’ve researched, the more apparent it becomes that the entire monetary system is unsustainable (which I’ll explain more about in another blog).
Since becoming aware of our faulty monetary system….. I became gravely concerned with what will happen if our financial system collapses. So I enrolled in my local community college to become a renewable energy technician. Our basic needs as humans are clean air, potable water, and food. Today electricity helps us obtain those things, as well as access to healthcare and education.
I’m currently in my last semester of school and I’ll be a certified technician for wind turbines and solar power by March 7th! Yes, I do get to climb those giant wind turbines. I also started a Sustainable Gardening Club (SEEDS- Seeking Ethical Environmental Development Sustainably) at the college I’m attending. I teach Yoga and Pilates part time.
My math teacher suggested I should consider engineering because I’m good at math and there are many scholarships available for females. So, I’m also dual majoring and taking engineering courses too. I’m not exactly sure where my engineering degree will take me, but I hope to be involved in either renewable energy, electric cars or both.
