Sarwana Days!
We have left Cimaja and moved further up the coast to the big wave spot of Sarwana. Its an awesome little village where cars are banned. Thats fine by us - finally some peace and quiet at night. We are staying a very cool little homestay as I mentioned in my last post. These homestay options are found all over Indonesia and for my money this is hands down the best way to travel around the country. The families that open their homes to visitors and provide wonderful home cooking are definitely deserving of the tourist dollar! We have stayed at this family's home on both of our last trips and more than happy to stay again this time round. the food is good and plenty of it and there is free-flow tea, coffee and water. I ghave set up a little work station in the room. How about that green paint!
So this morning we braved to double overhead sets and paddled from the beach out to the point. It's about 400m and its quite a long paddle but much safer than trying to enter from the rocks behind the wave (although we took that option in the afternoon. I dont have any great pics of the beach in Sarwana but the internet is full of them so here is one I found....

I'm going to just show a few photos also taken from the internet of the wave as our guy that takes pics for us wont be here until after the weekend. Its a super wave - its long and large and walls up beautifully. I got some great waves in the morning but was not top of my game in the afternoon. The wave takes you about 2 - 300m if you keep speed up through the middle section. At the end it crashes on to some shallow rocks so you need to kick out in plenty of time. Then it's a long paddle back to the lineup.

Tomorrow we will surf again - the wind forecast is down to zero and swell is a tiny bit smaller which to be honest is fine with me. Today was pretty big and I'm not shy to admit that I backed off on plenty of waves. I'm my own worst enemy when the swell increases.
