What's been happening at the Garden of the Goats?

in #summer7 years ago

While we disappeared from the Internet over the last month, we didn't fall off the face of the earth.

The gardens pretty much fizzled out, all but the squash! I can't wait to cook them.

The animals have been well. All except for Potsie, who one night got bloat. That was a new experience! Thank goodness for Google. That's a story for another day.

A friend gave us a female turkey (to be a companion for Tom), who my 9 year old named Tina, so hopefully next spring may start a flock.

Our kids were able to join a Lego league robotics club about a month ago. We go twice a week to the meetings.

I've continued on my Get Healthy path. After the get in shape challenge, I joined another challenge (not on Steemit). I really wanted to run! I did-twice- before i couldn't walk on my right foot. I stayed off it a few days to let it heal, then joined a different challenge. I have workouts sent to my email every day. I do them. :) And I walk a mile every day. Last weekend one of my friends decided to sell her bicycle, so I got it. I really haven't ridden a bike since I was a teen. Today I rode a mile. Oy- that will make one feel the quads-a-burnin'!
I know I still need to do a before and after post from the fitness challenge. I'll work on that next!

I've used my sewing machine a few times, but need to kick it into full gear. I received an order for five personalized name pillows due in two weeks. (This dress is from a pattern by FooFooThreads: Ruthie's Picnic Dress)(for my nine year old)

We have also started school. Every year I forget what is involved in getting organized! But it finally got organized, and school has begun. Even the three year old has her own stack of workbooks, which she loves.

My kids have to read a lot. I decided I need to read more, too. I've gotten some fluff books at the library, but the last few trips, I've checked out some classics. Lord of the Flies, The Sound and the Fury, and most recently Light in August.
I once thought I hated reading. Silly!

Did you get to see the eclipse? We did! So cool. I really wasn't into it until it was happening. But I'm so glad we took time out for it. 20170821_125740.jpg

It's been a busy season, but enjoyable. I have loved the summer, but am really looking forward to Fall. I'll try not to disappear for so long in the future!
Thank you for reading!

What's been going on with you? What's your favorite time of year?
