You cannot be an expert in all disciplines
There is no doubt that if you want to become an independent expert, you have to show some feathers. You have to go where it hurts with your skills. You have to test limits, fall on your face and take ridicule from others. You have to give up things that others around you continue to enjoy.
But YOU will be the one they envy and admire in the end. You will benefit the most from your own skills and knowledge, and moreover, you can share it with others. Practice patience and perseverance. Every day again. Then you will become a successful expert and customers will come to you. You will no longer have to try to attract them.
There are some basic rules that I have personally adopted from my masters during my almost 28 years in the work force:
- a successful product or service does not need advertising
- you cannot be an expert in all disciplines
- honest work lasts the longest
- competitors are not your absolute benchmark
- if you want to be better at something, specialize in it
- what you can do today, don't put off until tomorrow
- the early bird catches the worm
You are not born an expert or a successful entrepreneur or freelancer.
If no one has taught you yet, you have to do it yourself.
