HOW COULD WE CREATE THE RIGHT HABITS FOR SUCCESS ?
The knowledge how to form habits is an extremely important part of our success, because without the right habits in practice, success would be impossible.
To the question – How to do it ?
Let me give an example:
Let’s say a person who is overweight and in very poor physical condition wants to start training and eating healthy.
Most people in this situation make a huge mistake that dooms them to failure right from the start – they rush too much.
There’s no way you’ve spent the last 10 years sitting , eating junk food and suddenly become a super athlete. Well…it won’t be possible to compare even to a random person who is training every day.
Why? Well, because the habits of an athlete applied to you all at once will cause you stress that you cannot take.
Let say that until yesterday you had never exercised, not even walk more than 15- 20 min , but today you will start with 1 hour running, then doing strength training in the gym, and in addition to all this – eating in a radically different way than what you are used to.
If you try to do that all at ones your brain will start screaming
– WHAT ARE YOU DOING? STOP IMMEDIATELY! YOU CAN’T DO THIS!
It’s just going to be too much stress. And what will happen? Well what usually happens – you will give up. And not because you are weak, but because you approached it wrong.
Let us now give another example / for the same person in poor physical condition /
We will start step by step:
The first 2-3 weeks we will just start with 40min to 1h. a walk – only this, without changing the diet, without absolutely anything else.
At the end of the third week, we will include two light workouts a week – at home, for no more than 30 minutes each.
He already feels more energetic, he feels great !
And in fact has the feeling that he could do more.
Here is the secret ! – the brain now isn’t screaming: For God’s sake, stop, what are you doing ?!
Now it says contentedly:
Well done, you can do it!
Shouldn’t I start training 3 times a week?
Will I be able to do 5 more push-ups next time?
Should I get a card for the gym, I feel so good when I train!
I will check what can I do in order to eat better !
Well… do you think that this same person will quit now ?
I don’t think so .
We have to learn how to make the brain our friend not our enemy . It is something so powerful that everytime is going to be the difference, between the success and the failure.
In this way, we will not only succeed in our endeavors, but also create an almighty ally who will serve us faithfully.
An ally who does not accept the word failure. An ally who wants you to be successful and happy and to achieve your goals !
