Maintain presence of mind under stresssteemCreated with Sketch.

We like to think that we are rational creatures. That under stress we will be able to see the situation clearly and make the right decision. But when the time comes and we are put under pressure, we often crumble and make silly mistakes.

In our day to day lives we are just executing our routines and tasks that are more or less in our comfort zone. This gives us the illusion of mental fortitude, but it is just because we are so used to the situations we find ourselves in. True mental fortitude is created when we are exposed to new, chaotic environments, where we are unsure about how to act.

In these high pressure, high stakes situations, we must strive to not let our emotions take over, so we can maintain the ability to make rational decisions. We must also have as complete of a picture as possible of the situation we are in, in order to be able to use that knowledge to inform our decisions.

Welcome to my Study Notebook. Here I take different ideas from great authors and dissect them in order to improve my thinking and share some great curated knowledge with the world! If you took something away from this post, please consider buying the book that inspired it (not an affiliate link):
