Travel - Netherlands - Amsterdam Part #2 - Rijksmuseum and getting lost!
On our first full day in Amsterdam we decided to go to the world famous Rijksmuseum, Vondelpark and walk the streets of Amsterdam for another day.
I can honestly say that the Rijksmuseum is one of the best museums I have ever been to. Founded in The Hague in 1800, this museum moved to Amsterdam in 1808. There are a lot of epic paintings in the museum, but my favourite is definitely one called The Night Watch painted by Rembrandt in 1642. The sheer scale and epic light of this painting is something to see! Unfortunately we were not allowed to take any photos so you guys will have to go and see it for yourselves.
After visiting the Rijksmuseum we decided to take a quick tram ride back to the inner city. Of course, we were still raving and graving about the museum and did not notice the direction we were traveling in. We ended up travelling to the end of the tram line and we awkwardly realized that we were the only people left on the tram! We had to get out, the tram made a loop, the driver changed and we could climb back to drive back into the city. That was a new experience. ;)
The rest of the day we chill and walked the streets of Amsterdam. For lunch we had some classic chips called "Vlaamse Frites". If you're ever in Amsterdam, do yourself a favour and get some with a special Mayo that is amazing! Remember to ask for extra mayo!

Hello, great post about Amsterdam! For me, Amsterdam is one of the most wonderful cities in the world. The cozy atmosphere through the canals and the many nations living together freely. My favorite place in Amsterdam is the Waterlooplein, it's like magic in this place.
Yes, it is really awesome. I also enjoyed Waterlooplein... lots of little stalls and activities. ;)
Nice post, when were you there?
Thanks man. It was there after my trip to Belgium in 2008. Damn, that is 10 years ago. I need to get back there. ;)
Hook me up when you come this way and we'll go running and 'shooting' together :-D
Haha, I will definitely do that. ;)
