Story behind every photo. FIRENZE. Part 2

italy-6-firenze-2.jpg

The gem of Firenze is its main Cathedral - La Cattedrale di Santa Maria del Fiore.

Built in the middle of the 15th century it was the largest cathedral in Europe at that time. It capacity, if we can say so, is about 30 000 people! It’s really tremendous building. And what makes it even bigger – lack of space near the cathedral.

In front of its main entrance stand Baptistery di San Giovanni. So if you want to make kind of a “clean” photo of Duomo you have to come closer…to the 100 meters high tower! You feel how small you are and how huge this building is!

Colored marble on the walls makes this Cathedral and other cathedrals of Firenze unique and if you see only a small part of the facade, you can name the Cathedral or at least the town.

After only one visit Santa Maria Del Fiore became one of my favorite building in the world. It is really magnificent and worth seeing!

This is it for photo #6. Next chapter is coming up shortly ;)
