Those Camden Streets

Camden Winter

Moody November vibes in Camden Town

I thought it ironic that anyone in the business of selling ice would make any money in winter. Apparently they are never out of business.

This is why I was "late" for my LSY meeting yesterday. I spent the two hours prior to what I thought was the start of the meeting taking phots on the streets of Camden. It is one of the best places to do street photography in London I think. Some street photographers might find it a little too busy, especially those into minimalism, but Camden is hard to beat in terms of energy and vibes. There's something happening everywhere, all the time.

The weather yesterday, like today, was very cloudy - almost foggy even. Most other streets in the country are filled with people dressed in black and grey. Here, there's still a lot of vibrancy. I myself was dressed in the three primary colours. Why give in to winter?

Camden delinquent cycles past a red light

Camden is a seriously cool place in many people's view. You have that highly desirable vintage architecture with the high ceilings, fireplaces and big windows. It is, however, higher than average in terms of crime statistically in London. (Reference: Police Stats).

If you decide to live in Camden, you have to deal with the ying and the yang of the area. You will find the nicest cafés, markets and boutiques in the country, but you will be more likely to be mugged or offered hard drugs than most other parts of London.

London is known to be one of the most watched cities in the world, with cameras pretty much on every corner you turn. Even for London standards, Camden stands out. CCTV, speed cameras, parking cameras, miscellaneous cameras of unknown purpose, the list goes on. The local government makes millions of pounds annually off drivers. No, not because they were speeding, but because they took the wrong left turn on a road that used to allow left turns two days prior. I myself have fallen victim to the "Camden Cameras". Now I just totally avoid the area in my car. In fact, I haven't driven to Central London during the weekday in over a decade!

It is said that you could lose your drivers license in one drive through Camden

Yes, that's why every Steemians is enjoying Good Lood's ice cream in Kraków and there's even a long queue for it. 😂

Camden changes quite a lot since my last visit there as I recall not seeing any CCTV around, just a small quiet township.

Yeah very strange 😭😂

I don't like that Camden Cameras thing if they're going to change the rules without warning, so everyone will commit infractions thinking they're doing it right. Like you, I would avoid it too, hahaha. On the other hand, I see that there is a lot of movement in Camden despite the winter. Greetings, @adetorrent

They have cameras even on my street, but when you ask them for the footage as you had been robed, they are never working :))

Exactly 😭😭

I feel a connection with that 'delinquent on the bicycle'.......

Childhood memories and scraped knees in winters....... it stings in the best way possible :-)

Ah! So you were one of those kids. 😂

That pun though. Inc9uld easily waste another day in Camden. So many things happening there.
