There is an interesting story I quoted from Amor Fati's book Kim-songsaengnim. Maybe you've heard of it?

This is the story of a bamboo plant called Mojuk. It is said that when seed moist seed is spread, there will not be any growth for 5 years. Only a small shoot will appear. .
Interestingly after 5 years, mojuk will start growing rapidly, and its growth can exceed the performance of other types of bamboo. Mojuk can grow to reach a height of 25 meters more.

Apparently for the first 5 years the Mojuk is not undeveloped. The little shoot is preparing its roots in order to sustain its rapid growth.
