megalithic Bada statues, I hope that you will enjoy, as always thank you for being here! Without further due...

Introduction:

Those statues are located on the Indonesian island. This place is also known as the Napu Valley, located within the Lore Lindu National Park in Central Indonesian Celebes. In this place, there are over one hundred unusual statues whose secrets have not been resolved to this day. Their examination and inspection allowed us to state the majority of them were carved and that they depict the silhouettes of human figures. Nevertheless, we know almost nothing about them. We do not know the time of their origin or civilization, which was responsible for creating them thousands of years ago.

Mysterious figures are a great mystery for the researchers. Fact is that they were engraved from solid stone blocks. Some of them form groups in which they seem to have been set up, while others remain "lonely". Their location is similar to the places of former burials. They have a varied height, the smallest ones reach only a dozen centimeters, while the largest even four and a half meters. Statues located in the Indonesian Bada valley are distinguished by a phallic form and a type of stylization for drawings that applied hands. Each of the figures has bulging eyes, nose, and eyebrows - these elements were sculpted in one piece, which makes them somewhat similar to each other. Despite this fact, they are characterized by a great dose of individualism, each is different, just like among people, they even have their own names. Statues have specific gender characteristics that we can easily recognize, but only 25% of them are women.

The very interesting part about all of this is the fact that not only human figures are represented there.
Around the rice field, we can find a buffalo-like statue, half of it is buried in the ground.
A distinguishing fact is also that the majority of stone faces have their eyes directed towards the setting sun and the kingdom of the supreme deity Puang Matua. According to some scientists, the rise of amazing figures from the Bada valley occurred between 3000 BC and 1600 AD. Presumably, they were made in honor of the ancestors and set at the specific location where their souls descended to Earth, living people had the opportunity to communicate with the spirits, praise and pray for protection. Almost 400 such granite megaliths have been found in this area. Yet we do not know the original purpose behind them. Many scientists believe that they were placed in the areas of mass human victims. What's more, there are people who think that these megalithic sculptures have the ability to move independently. The huge mystery is also a fact that stone cannot be obtained anywhere around the location they were built. The figures were discovered in 1908, which is only a little over 100 years ago. Despite a lot of time passing, information about them is rather description and speculation only.
If we are about to talk of their origin, some say they were built 5000 years ago, others that in the year 1000, it's very hard to say exactly.

There are many answers to this history by the local population. Some say that one of the statues is supposed to be called Tokala'ea and was allegedly a rapist, for this crime he was severely turned into stone. Deep cuts on it can suggest stabbing with a knife. Another local statue is known as Tadulako. It was intended to protect the local population against theft. Unfortunately, one day, he himself stole the rice bowl, which led to a penalty in the form of a stone conversion. According to some people, statues could be associated with the sacrifice. People believe they would drive away the evil spirits. There is also information about the alleged supernatural power of statues, which gives them the ability to disappear and appear in another place, who knows if there's truth in those statements.
