Aloe Vera - Healthy & Wonderful! ENG
Welcome, dearest Steemit community!
Today is the day I am also sharing healthy advice for all of you! Recently I spoke about birch juice & special mango, right now it's the time for Aloe Vera - I'll let you know why is that so healthy & how do we know about it currently - enjoy!
Origin:
Aloe vera is grown all over the world. Our ancestors already knew about its soothing effects. It was most often used for sunburn and skin damage. However, in ancient times its internal healing properties were helpful in oral administration. Most of us today would imagine cosmetics when hearing about it, but it's also useful for humans, the fact is that it's a wonderful plant used therapeutically for centuries in;
China, Japan, Greece, India, Egypt, and Mexico.
We are certain that it comes from Sudan. Probably the word "aloe" itself means "alloeh" in old Arabic, which means a bitter substance, and the word "vera" is Latin "truth". There are more than 400 species of aloe in the world, but only one is used the most, due to its miraculous properties, the one we talk about today. (botanical name: Aloe barbadensis miller).
History:
The story reports that the healing properties of aloe were eagerly used by famous figures, even by Cleopatra, she believed that it was adding health and beauty. Christopher Columbus had this plant with him going to every single sea expedition. The first mention of its benefits appears on the Mesopotamian plates from 2100 BC. Applications of aloe on internal and external damage from Egypt are described on papyrus, it happened way back in 1500 BC. Ancient Greeks and Romans used it among others too, in the treatment of wounds and hair loss. The first mention in English culture goes back to 1655, when John Goodyew translated the most important book about the herbs used in ancient times, we call it the work of Pedanios Dioscorides entitled "De Materia Medica". In 1820, aloe vera found its way into the American pharmacy and was considered a herbal remedy that can be used to protect the skin, for example from sunburn. In the 1930s, people initiated a very detailed research on it. It has been proven that it has a number of properties that are precious to our body.
Ingredients & Effect:
Aloe like any typical succulent stores water in its leaves, that's why it can survive the great heat and long periods of drought. Its leaf pulp consists of 96% water and 4% active substances.You may think that it is "only" 4%, but in this small percentage, there are a number of natural vitamins, minerals and amino acids, those are necessary for maintaining good health. It contains several essential vitamins, such as; A, C, E, B1, B2, B3, B6 and B12. (Vitamins A, C, and E are antioxidants that help getting rid of free radicals being directly related to cancer and heart disease.) In addition, they perfectly support the entire immune system. B-group vitamins play an important role especially in maintaining a strong nervous system. They promote better digestion (vitamin B6), cleansing the body of toxins (vitamin B3) and maintaining the proper level of red blood cells (vitamin B12). There are also many valuable minerals in aloe. Important for nervous systems - calcium; maintaining normal blood pressure and muscle structure - sodium; forming blood cells - iron; providing resistance to stress - magnesium; reducing the risk of heart attack - potassium; preventing osteoporosis - copper. In addition to the fact that aloe vera is a real vitamin and mineral bomb, it also has many other functions that support our health. It supports the body's immune system and regenerates the nervous system, improves circulation and adds general vital energy. The most popular aloe products on the market are gels, ointments or lotions.

Whenever I see aloe it brings back memories of my grandmother and the time when I was really little and burned myself. I thought it was so neat how she broke a piece of aloe off and it immediately helped the burn.
