Here's How Ford gave me a FREE Truck for my Viral Video Accident

The Purchase

This very unusually event happened to me during 2017 in Nicaragua. At the beginning of 2017 I decided to buy my very first new truck. I really liked the new look of the new Ford Rangers which are not available in North America, and went ahead and bought the cheapest model, which was around $25,000. I drove it for only 2 months and 7000km until the accident happened.

The Accident

I was driving with my girlfriend down the highway going around 90km an hour and all of a sudden my gas pedal automatically went into full acceleration. We started speeding up towards the traffic and I quickly put it into Neutral and pulled over to the side of the road. That did not stop the truck from accelerating and a huge cloud of white smoke started entering inside the vehicle. I tried turning the truck off which nothing happened and it continued to build up with a huge amount of smoke. We followed our instincts and RAN. Luckily I had my phone with me and started to filming while running away ( shown in the Video Below ) 2 minutes later of the engine burning smoke, it just slowly dies. This is very rare and its called a Diesel Runaway .

The Negotiation

During the next week I begin talking to Ford asking them how they were going to compensate me, and they said they had no plans to do anything and that I would have to pay to replace the engine. I told them that I have a video of the entire incident and if we didn't agree on anything by the end of that day that I was going to post the video.. So I went home and uploaded the video on Facebook that night. The next morning I woke up to 11k comment and 1.5million views. It was insane, I could not keep up with it. I received a phone call from Ford in the morning asking me if I could come into their office to negotiate a deal... The ball was in my court now!

During that meeting I brought my lawyer and we discussed options, they said they were willing to give me a new truck of the exact same model, in exchange for me to take down the video. So I said "Nope, I want the highest upgraded truck you have, The Ford Wildtrax". They left the room and came back with an answer saying Ok it's a Deal.

The deal was that I had to take down the video on facebook ( didn't say anything about YouTube!) There was a 2 week waiting time until I received the truck and during that time the video continued to go viral. A company on Youtube called ViralHog actually bought my video and showcased it on their site, paying me $200!

That is what you call a WIN-WIN situation, and you can see how happy I am in the photo above with my Ford hat they gave me to wear for the photo haha.
