When TV channels save your life
Call it ‘ideal box’ instead of ‘idiot box’! We were stuck in an elevator for around 5 hours. Along with my husband and me, two teenagers and an elderly woman were with us.
At first, we were all relaxed as we knew that the mall authorities would somehow fix the problem. Even after 5 minutes, the elevator didn’t move and tension started elevating among 5 of us. Who says, number thirteen is unlucky? You are wrong it’s number 5; at least that’s what I thought at that time.
My husband wasn’t claustrophobic but he felt like one, in that tiny room enclosed with stainless steel. Both the teenagers started to cry and the old woman started hymning some chants.
In such a tensed state I started finding means to ease the tension, instead of getting tensed. I recalled the documentaries of various survivors I used to see in the television like that of Hostages, Natural Disasters, Crimes etc.
I narrated their stories to them, explained them how with their strong desire to live they survived. This way, I made them realize that they all must be ‘Negatively Negative' because ‘Being Positive' is what, none of them understood.
