The Story of Sarah Rector
Did you know?
Sarah Rector - By the age of 10, she became the richest Black child in America. She received a land grant from the Creek Nation as part of reparations. Soon after, oil was discovered on her property. By 1912, the revenue from this oil was $370,000 per year(roughly $6.5 million today). Despite various attempts to steal her land and fortune, Sarah resisted. She went on to attend Tuskegee University and eventually settled in Kansas City, Missouri where her mansion still stands.
She was born in a town called taft in 1902, it was an indian territory back then and know it is known as Oklahoma her father named Joseph Rector and his wife Rose Mcqueen. Sarah had five siblings.
This girl was the richest Black American in the world and it's very sad that most the people now dont know about her existence. Her name is not even in the history books.
