Hannasia Toumain (Beauties Of My Land) This series of Stories have passed in my family from generation to generation.
Today my mom is telling us the stories she told our brothers and me when we were little, she repeats them again due to the fact that our family is growing and does not want to miss the stories that her great-great-grandmother told her grandmother and so on until we reach her, today we her children and her first grandchild are sitting listening to her very carefully.
For me the family is very important and I would like to convey to my children and my grandchildren the same stories, that our roots and our culture are alive.
Hundreds of years ago in an indigenous village lived many large families, men, women, youth, children and the elderly.
One day a disease arrived that little by little was destroying the families. He attacked the women first and they transmitted them to everyone, it started like a normal flu, which took months to completely degenerate the body until they died.
There were a couple of old people, he was called Acutserra and she Cashit, both were very close friends since they were little and they grew up as brothers, as old people their families were very close.
Acutserra's wife was a very cheerful woman, always helping the people who needed it and was very appreciated in the whole village. Little by little all the people died, the children of Acutserra and their grandchildren also died and it was a great pain for him, only his friend Cashit remained who was practically his family. Her family also died and they were left alone, of all the inhabitants they were the only ones who survived.
Night after night, Cashit and Acutserra asked Maleiwa for their god and their Asewuya for their guide spirits, who wanted to see their families again but did not want to die, because they did not want to leave the other alone. Thus they were for months waiting to have a signal that will guide them even in dreams to see their loved ones.
One night Acutserra had a dream, saw Maleiwa come down from the sky on a big ship, invited him to sit talking with him under a tree called Aipia and told him to get ready to go with him, Acutserra told him that he did not want to die . Maleiwa explained that it was only going to be a trip, but that he should follow his instructions and pay attention to him, otherwise he would not be able to have what he wanted, that was to see his family, and he should not go back to that place where he was sitting with Maleiwa under Aipía until he told her the day they should meet there.
He waited for weeks to dream about Maleiwa but the days passed and nothing, he began to think that dream was a matter of imagination but finally after 5 weeks he dreamed of Maleiwa and he told him that he should sleep for 3 nights under the Aipia until the I would look for it.
The last night Maleiwa came to look for him in his big boat, told him to get on and hold on as hard as he could because they did not go to a place like the sea. The ship began to move slowly until it gained height to the sky. Acutserra felt that time passed slowly but a few minutes later she began to gain speed, about 30 minutes later she began to see the sunrise.
When everything was clear, he saw the clouds clear and saw large green fields, animals of different sizes and some that he had never seen in his life. Acutserra was surprised by the change of landscape and was immersed in his thoughts when he heard Maleiwa speak and said, we are just arriving but you must be clear that you can see your family but you can not be near them, your family or no one else should know that you are here, because everyone here is dead and you are still alive.
Acutserra accepted this, and then in the distance he began to see a great castle, but as they were going up high he saw everything from above. When they were arriving he saw many people, but he did not see his family.
Already inside the castle Maleiwa took him to a very tall tower, and explained that he should not go down because the dead can smell the living, just as the living can smell the dead, that the living have a characteristic smell that displeases them and They can not stand it. Also in that world there should not be alive, he made the exception with the fact that he knew the pain he felt and his mission to return was to tell people that this place exists.
Finally in the afternoon he saw his wife in the distance and at the moment his children joined him, he felt a great happiness so great that he cried, and he wanted to go down and hug them all and remembered what Maleiwa said.
He thought it over and decided to sneak down, but when he reached the entrance Maleiwa stopped him. At once they knocked on the great door and Maleiwa hid Acutserra. When Maleiwa opened, there was a group of people asking him what was going on, why he smelled melon that was the characteristic smell of the living, and that if he had some O hidden there, that if he brought one he could bring his relatives too. Quickly Maleiwa evaded them and took out Acutserra and asked him if he had understood why the living should not be there.
Acutserra returned very sad but happy at the same time because he could see his family, and with the mission that Maleiwa gave him that he and Cashit went to different villages to tell the story and transmit it from generation to generation.
