Fables For Today: Mr. Gov and Mrs. Ernment Discover Alzena and Darius's Lemon-aid Stand

in #story7 years ago

Once upon a time... Most surely near the present, there was a little boy and a young girl; Their names were Darius and Alzena. They did not know one another as one was from the east and the other from the west

Now there existed a place in the middle built of fire red bricks and smooth polished wood, where happiness exists in the form of sugary good. There appeared a wonderfully round window that began five feet up from the ground.

One day Darius and Alzena were approaching this wonderful place from opposite directions. They came to stand beside and found the window was just outside their sight even when they would stand on their tippy-toes. So Alzena and Darius became friends and Darius knelt to allow Alzena to climb and discover what grand sugar treats they might view inside.

Their plan was working and Alzena was nearly their, when suddenly a sound echoed of an opening and closing door. Suddenly standing beside them was Mr. Gov and Mrs. Ernment. The children were given a stern glare followed by a swift kick, though before Alzena and Darius could gather themselves up from the ground that same mysterious echo occurred and Mr. Gov and Mrs Ernment were no longer around. Darius and Alzena wondered what trespasses they might have committed, but rather than chatter they thought it far better to scatter.

The following day they once again found one another as they both rounded their perspective corner. "What will we do, to discover these secrets? We are far to small and do not have the mean to enter through the door?" Darius uttered to Alzena. "Bring here tomorrow your sugar or lemons and I will bring the other" Alzena inquired. With that they agreed and left to prepare their idea.

The very next day they met on the spot, they combine their shares and began displaying their wares. As the hot sun soared up money filled their cup. "We have enough to go inside" tucking away their wares the two did agree. When suddenly a sound echoed of an opening and closing door. No sooner did the echo fade, than once again there was a sound echoed of an opening and closing door. Staring in wonder they quickly checked their standing, recalling their last rather rough landing. All was in order no shirts were ripped, but "look at our cup, there's nothing left but a slip," they exclaimed. Reading in wonder, the slip did read, "you cannot sell sugar in your mead, so we've found the need and you should heed, selling sugar in your mead," sincerely Mr. and Mrs. Gov and Ernment.
