RE: The Transformation of 'Murica

in #story6 years ago

I must say your post paints a very grim picture. But true (really, that's why it's so grim, because it's all so very real). And I honestly don't think it can be saved, I'm sorry to say :(
i agree very much with the quote used in the beginning, but exercising one's freedom is more than just voting, in my opinion. Not in an election where it makes little difference who the chosen candidate is. They will most likely govern by someone else's rules an agenda.
Seems to me that the governing system is rotten to the core. There may be hope in young politicians, but that gets worn down by the old system. You don't play by our rules, you don't play at all.
I think real change could only happen through tearing the whole thing down. The country belongs to the people and they should be the ones who truly govern, who actually make decisions. They should be a lot more involved than just checking a box on a voting ballot... That is so easy to rig and even if it isn't rigged, it's not going to be in the citizen's best interest (as you pointed out).
But that takes active interest from people. If they are content with just ticking a box (often not even that), then change can not happen...

Excellent post, Eric. The sort of thing more people should be reading, I believe. Because little by little, this is how you wake up.

Thanks! The general mood in this country is the darkest it's been in my life. There's a true feeling of hopelessness, especially among the young. The system has been completely hijacked by the ultra wealthy and the corporations and makes people feel powerless. People are so frustrated and thirsty for change and that it's created an environment where someone like Trump can be elected President.

You nailed the root of the problem...decades of apathy. At the very least I hope more people are paying attention now, educating themselves, and getting involved in creating a better future.

Trouble is - in my opinion - that so many expect someone else to come in and do their work for them. Which is why they rarely educate themselves or pay attention, I'm afraid. They expect ready made answers such as here's candidate X and he's gonna solve all your problems. People try to break free and to change things, but the trouble is there are often smart rich people who know how to take advantage of that and manipulate the crowd in a direction that works for them...:/

So true @honeydue! We need to “Make People Think Again”! #MPTA
