Things Are The Way You Think They Are

in #story7 years ago

Being gone for so so long, I hate the fact that I could not be on steemit 24/7.

This is my fault, mine and mine alone of cause, as it started like a one week break, which subsequently became a two week break , then a month, then 3.
I have been powering down, and while i wanted to come back jay, the losses that cryptos suffered held me back.

Please bear with me as I resume my steemit journey .

I have no idea how im going to bounce back, but i know I can do it.

I found an interesting definition of the mind as"a set of cognitive faculties including consciousness, perception, thinking, judgement and memory".
the mind

The mind, so beautiful , so mysterious , is the major thing that controls how we see things and how we react to things, and as someone rightly says "things are not the way they are, they are the way you think they are" so the main thing that controls your actions is the mind, it determines the way you'll react to things, the way you'll interpret a word someone said to you or a message, it even controls your subconscious, sometimes what you have in mind or what you were thinking before you went to sleep might be what you'll dream about
Here's a short story;Jane a little girl of 5 watched her dad beat her mum almost everyday, sometimes he leaves her injured and won't even bother to tend to the injuries, she had 2 miscarriages due to the beatings she suffered from the man she called her husband, the man will always apologise from time to time but will still end up beating her up, still tell her its because he loved her. Her friends asked her to leave but she claimed to still love her husband and still remained. This continued till jane became a young adult, and everywhere she went she had this notion that every man will always beat his wife because he loved her. She fell in love with Femi their relationship grew from weeks to months and Femi never raised his hands on Jane, not quite long Jane broke off the relationship. when Femi and his friends together with Jane's friends went to plead with her and ask for the cause of her breaking off the relationship, she was adamant at first but when she opened up she said femi didn't love her, her friends were amazed because they knew how much femi cared for jane, when asked why she thought that she said"he has never beaten me" her friends were dazed!

Jane in the above story, because of the picture she had painted in her mind right from her childhood days, lived half of her life thinking the man that loves her must beat her to prove his love, no matter how much people try to explain to her that she has the wrong mindset she won't change, until she deletes that mindset and get a new one, she will live all her life looking for a man who will beat her to prove his love for her, sadly, she will find one.

So many times our mind has digested so many wrong things which has affected our decisions one way or the other, you think your friend doesn't want to greet you because of the argument you both had the previous day not knowing that your friend is actually going through a challenge and needs someone to confide in but you won't approach her because of what you're thinking in your mind, you think your partner is cheating on you because you saw him/her smiling at the opposite sex,but things are not really that way, they are like that because you think so. Change the way you think of something and see how different it will look to you, dont forget "things are the way you think they are".

Please forgive my lack of writing skills at this stage, i am trying to get back my skills.

I recently found a lovely community and i am willing to work things out to move ahead again.

Everyone talks about addictions now-a-days, but we all suffer from the addiction of thinking which can be just as scary. Good luck on your journey back!
