the upside down kingdom

in #story7 years ago

she called it the upside down kingdom
and showed me a man who washed feet
and became king of the world,
where our glow-stick hearts must be broken to love,
and opening our arms makes room to hold the world,
where only an empty cup can be filled
and giving is fuller than getting.
he said that life is never about you,
and showed me how mirrors build sand castles
but service builds a new world,
how truth weighs more than gold
and humility can topple tyrants,
how hard work can build an empire
and how to watch it burn with grace.
in a monkey-bar world with bullies on top,
swinging from bent-knees, upside down, sets things aright.
