Owls are a group of birds belonging to the order of Strigiformes. This bird is a class of birds (carnivores, meat-eaters) and is a nocturnal animal. Overall, there are about 222 known species, spreading throughout the world except Antarctica, most of Greenland, and some remote islands.

In the western world, this animal is considered a symbol of wisdom, but in some places in Indonesia it is considered as a preview carrier without death, hence the name of the owl. But not everywhere on these islands these birds are called owls. In Java for example, the name of this bird is darès or manuk darès which has no connotation with death or ghost. In North Sulawesi, the owl is known as Manguni.

Owls are known for their large front eyes, unlike most other birds whose eyes are facing sideways. With a sharp curved beak like an eagle's beak and a feather-headed composition that forms a circle of faces, the owl's "face" look is so impressive and sometimes creepy. Moreover, the bird's neck is so flexible that its face can rotate 180 degrees backwards.
The owl hair is brown or gray with black and white spots. Combined with frequent and immovable behavior, this bird is not easily visible; so even when sleeping during the day under the protection of the leaves.
The owl tail is generally short, but its wings are large and wide. Its wingspan reaches about three times its body length.
Owls can not roll their eyes. Instead, the owl can rotate his neck up to 180 degrees. So the owl must turn his head if he wants to follow the movement of prey he pursues.

Owls are given the privilege of being able to see 100 times more sensitive than humans. The eyes and the membrane are very large. His eyes are more rounded than other birds. Thanks to that privilege he can see and capture prey well at night. Because owls are given the ability to fly without making a sound.

This is because the owl's wings are as good as cotton. The ability of the owl is certainly very beneficial because the target prey will not know the arrival of owls. Usually the owl will release "uhu .." when it gets its prey.

Owl foods in animal form such as insects, frogs, mice and others. That's why many owls nest in the woods that have many trees, in the desert.
