3120 Followers Is TOO many! Wow I can’t believe I just said THAT!
TOO Many Followers!...No Really It's TOO Many
Hello to all, yes everyone at every level of Steemit.
At this stage of my experience with Steemt, it is time to limit what I see to quality posts, I take this decision due to the fact that maintaining a feed with so much content coming in is rapidly becoming unmanageable.
I’m Experiencing FOMO (Fear Of Missing Out), Aren’t You?
There is so much great content out there, I am concerned that I may be missing a lot of it. There is also a large amount of what I will call ‘just toss it up there someone will like it maybe’ content, or what others have perhaps more correctly (?) termed ‘shit posts’.
Is It Really A Good post?
Think about this then tell me honestly. Is a post with a single video🎬 and no explanation really a good post?
Is a post with a solitary photo🖼 with no written words about it worthy of being called a good post?
Why do they deserve anything?
Is a post that is just a complete copy & paste with no referencing of the original creator really a good post?
Should anyone reward these types of post? When we reward these we miss the needles in the haystack. (in case you missed the idea, the needles are the great content, and the haystack is Steemit)
Unfortunately, Steemit is becoming filled with these posts and I don’t want to waste my time viewing these.
If you are one who posts this type of content then please note I will mute or unfollow you, and if it means losing followers then that’s OK by me.
If you are only following me because I used to follow back, then please unfollow or mute me.
If that means I have even just 50 or fewer true followers then that is OK by me.
I want to be a valued member here, not an irritating bug that the community would rather see squashed or wither and die.
I would suggest to others who have begun by starting out with follow for follow, and upvote for upvote, please don’t it will be of no benefit to you, or the community.
I did follow for follow initially, but have never promised upvote for upvote , or begged for it in comments (that is just crazy🙄 It should be obvious that begging won’t work especially if you have no history of involvement in the community, unfortunately many don’t see👁👁 this).
I have always only upvoted or resteemed what I like or what I believe the community will like or find useful after viewing, reading, watching, or listening to the content posted.
With Steemit becoming so popular there are many new members who are essentially in it for a quick buck🤑💰, and are actually spamming post comments, I have also read about spamming in the chat channels (steemit.chat and Dischord).
What some new Steemians don’t realize is that spamming will not help, in fact it will result in your alienation from the community.
Everyone’s definition of spam is of course different, but you know if you are… seriously you know if you are spamming, so please don’t do it😠🤢🚫
Going forward I will no longer be pursuing a strategy of follow for follow as this is not providing a useful experience of Steemit.
😮OMG! Time to Mute And/Or Un-Follow
Beginning immediately, I will reduce the numbers that I follow to concentrate on more worthy posts.
I will mute or unfollow members who are posting more than 10 posts in a 24 Hour period, excluding comments, if you’re commenting a lot that’s cool (so long as it’s not spam).
If you resteem that’s also fine I also resteem, but if you post every hour it is very likely you are not posting good content, so I likely won’t want to see it.
It is my aim to get a manageable feed of good content from which I will upvote, comment, and resteem
Why No Upvote?
I will not upvote, or resteem posts that use content that is not referenced with links to any outside source if any are used. (Yes this includes images, text, music/speech, and video ).
So if you without reference use content that you didn’t create … I don’t want it in my feed. I will not follow you or I will mute or unfollow if I am currently following ‘creators’ of that type of post.
Those type of posts are detrimental to those who post them, and more importantly they are detrimental to the acceptance of Steemit.
Quality, not Quantity
Sigh - I am glad not to be alone with my quality obsession. There are some Steemies who I generally like, but their content has reduced to quantity - pics, vids, barely a summary sentence, no reference - in other words - where is your heart? I then unfollow. I am not making the effort to explain to that user why, if they read my posts, they'd know.
As for you, sorry, can't unfollow - as you're still delivering quality.
Reward tax after 4
It is not only a turn-off seeing more than 3-4 posts a day from a single user on my feed - it's also detrimental for the user, as rewards are 'taxed' after four posts within 24 hours. If they read the FAQ, they'd know.
So, as for you, you then have to continue to endure your follow-ship. Nothing like responsibility and pressure that comes with a large following.
Désolé mais non-désolé.
ch @globocop
THNX @globocop for resteeming this brilliant post, otherwise I would not have figured it out!
As I thought - there are many more of us, understanding what steemit was made for!
CU later... - my pleasure!
Thank you for the resteem and that you understand my thinking on the best diercetion to take with Steemit.
Cheers @zooropa! :)
Couldn't pass this one up.
We have to try hard "being needles..."
Just living by example will do that... :)

Hm, Ja. Das hört sich vertraut an! :)
Mark 9:35 ESV
And he sat down and called the twelve. And he said to them, “If anyone would be first, he must be last of all and servant of all.”
Wunderschön!
Das erinnert mich an... -
Yes, be the needle, don't be the haystack.😀
I think we all know, that truth hurts quite sometimes.
By the way - great metaphor!
Thank you for the comments and your resteem! Glad that some appreciate my change in priorities.
Looking forward to future posts...
Thanks for sharing this one!
😎
One thing I noticed from a very brief trial of vote for vote is that the users who I exchanged votes with had no voting power left. What a complete waste of time.
I think it's great to trim down the numbers if there's nothing good coming from them. Otherwise you're left with a ton of garbage in your feed blocking out the good stuff!
Congratulations! I know you say too many followers but congrats! I am glad to see big people in our community. I'm still just a little guy but I hope maybe someday I will be on your level. I hope my content is good in your eyes. Thank you and again congrats!! :)
Congrats man,and you are def missing out!!!too much content to process 😂
No one can force you to follow them, I managed to get one or two quite spammy people following me so I unfollowed them because I didn't want my feed cluttered. I think as well, you can click on various tags in your feed so you can look at categories of stuff in it like art so if you want to only look at certain stuff on a day you can.
Edit: Correction, I was wrong, can't do that, but it would be a nice feature to help deal with the mess on your home feed.
Gratulation <3
Great post, can you follow me....only JOKING :-)
From day one I have not asked for upvote out follows, it annoys me when people do, i I like the post I'll upvote, follow our resteem if the person and content are worth it.
If you follow to many you lose all the good connect amongst the weight of the dross, sorry to be blunt but it is the truth.
2000+ followers would be hard to keep up with!
As a somewhat new adventurer on the steem ship, I also have seen, a lot of vote for me I'll vote for you, I also have seen people who have such a large folllowing that they can post a pic or video, sometimes a good video maybe 30 min long, and get 50 votes In the first 30 seconds.
Lot of people just copy paste other people's work, and yes, some just posting pics and no explanation. So you have valid points.
Guess what I'm saying is yes, there are people just upvoting their favorite persons running up large numbers and I guess they all share in the reward.
Bottom line is that it is hard to keep up with some of the good post and informative ones,
So I can't blame you to unfollow some.
I have followed you because of some informative articles as I'm trying to learn.
I try to follow and respond to as many as I can, I upvote those I like, not sure how to know if I ran out, haven't seen that yet. Or where I would see that, I don't see anything in the wallet that shows how much power left. Going to loook into that.

THNX @pqlenator - "Bulls Eye!!!"
I read a bright minded post by @rich11 - (worth reading!), afterwards one of @globocop - (worth reading!) and now yours - WOW! This is what gives me hope, that there are still people out there understanding, what's a social community is all about... - to communicate... to argue... to share... to help... to create... to motivate... to design... - to develop as an individual but only to help to develop the community as a whole!
Sorry man, but from now on - I have to follow you... - Cheers!
Kinda agree, my feed is also getting a little too big too, not sure I want to unfollow though just yet.
What should I do?
