A taste of home!

Today, I decided to cook one of my favorite comfort meals, plantain porridge with fish and snail. It’s a dish that reminds me of home, full of rich flavors and warmth. Plantain porridge is common in many communities, but when you add fish and snail, it becomes something extra special.

I started with semi-ripe plantains, cut into cubes. They give the porridge that nice balance of sweetness and firmness. I boiled them with palm oil, onions, fresh pepper, crayfish, and seasoning cubes to bring out the traditional taste. As the plantains softened, the mixture thickened into a rich, golden base.

The highlight of the dish was the protein. I used smoked fish, which added a deep flavor to the porridge, and snails that gave it a unique texture and taste. The combination of both created a perfect blend, soft fish with the chewy bite of snail. To finish, I stirred in a handful of vegetables for freshness and color.

Cooking this meal was not just about satisfying hunger, but also about celebrating the kind of food that carries memories. It’s simple, yet special, and every spoonful felt like comfort on a plate.

This video is not just about showing the steps but about sharing a piece of my food journey. If you love plantain, fish, and snail, then this is one recipe you’ll definitely want to try.
