Disappointing day for vendors.

A lot of times when people get used to doing things wrongly, it becomes their new normal. So today I went to the market to buy a few things, when I arrived at the market, buying and selling was in full gear as usual. Petty traders had their stalls set up along the pedestrian walk ways giving little or no space for people to walk in and out of the market freely.

With this problematic situation, it’s always a hassle to move around freely along the entrance and exit points of the market. Nevertheless I was able to navigate my way through and continued on my way into the market.

However, after my little quick buying, on my way out of the market at the exit point I noticed that the stalls on the walkway have all been removed making room for easy movement and less human traffic for people to move freely without struggles.

Meanwhile amidst this relief I noticed the disappointment on the faces of the traders, they felt they have been treated unfairly because they were asked to remove their stalls from the pedestrian walkways, which was the right thing to do.

They have become accustomed to doing things wrongly which had become normal for them. I went ahead to ask one of them why the sudden change of things and I was informed that the President of my Country will be visiting my State of residence to commission some completed State projects, and so there is urgent need to make sure everywhere was in order including the marketplace. The sight of an unorganised marketplace would not be a good one for him to see right??
