Why Vocational Job Programs Don't Help Disabled People //Daily Vlogging Day 5
The program I tried didn't address systematic barriers that keep disabled people out of the workforce. They gave me a counselor who didn't believe I'm autistic because I didn't fit her stereotypes. Refused to listen to me when I listed jobs I couldn't do.
If your employees think it's up to them on how disabled someone is and won't listen to disabled people when it comes to how performing certain jobs will be difficult, then you're not for disabled folks.
Examples of services I thought these programs provided
-job alerts on companies hiring
-matching you with the right job, services akin to dating apps, but matching us with jobs.
I am no longer interested in these programs, I intend to remind you to research things you're told. Joe's program may differ from yours
