Introducing Stempede, a curation account to complement @SteemSTEMsteemCreated with Sketch.

in #steemstem7 years ago (edited)

Good afternoon! @mobbs here

I thought I'd write an introductory post on what I envision this account to be. For the sake of openness or whatever.

This account will do the following:

  • Further promote STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering & Maths) content

  • Follow the steemSTEM curation trail

  • Acquire delegation from @minnowbooster

  • Increase that delegation with any and all profits each month

  • Give a larger percentage upvote to particularly valuable content

  • Post short summaries, advertisements, for those valuable posts for a little extra recognition

  • Resteem those posts

  • Get me a few extra bucks on the side now I won't have as much time to post my normally prolific science posts

Now it should be said, I'm just one out of three people on this joint account, and we are free and open to change this vision, whether it's to flag non-scientific content, flag scientific content, post memes about weird-looking frogs, provide links to deadly computer viruses or whatever. But regardless, the overall ambition is to further add to the @steemSTEM army and benefit the community.

If anybody has some unique or interesting suggestions on the direction of this account, feel free to discuss it with me in the comments!

So, if you love reading scientific content and all kinds of fascinating features of the physical and natural world BUT you have no time to go diving into all the tags and trawling through the garbage, there are now two things you can do.

  • Follow this account for daily content worth your time

  • Follow @steemSTEM for weekly digests promoting the best of the best on our SteemSTEM Distilled posts

If you haven't already, join the steemSTEM chat on Steemit.chat to be a part of the best community out there!

Thanks for reading!

I have a crazy Idea. Maths posts are rare here, I myself only have done 2. I would like to collaborate. If you share with me the posting key I would like to submit maths content to that account. It would help to make it grow faster and increase the exposure to math. I could make a post a week. Opinion?

Will get you on DM!

@ertwro - I'd love to see some good maths posts here.

numberphile seems to attract a very large following on YouTube, but I think if these posts are linked to #steemiteducation and #education you would get some interested audiences as well :)

Good initiative. The stem community should be the most vibrant community since steemit couldn't have existed without stem.

Huh that's a very valid point! heh =D

very cool I look forward to reading more!!

Good luck with this account. I like the name and look forward towards seeing stem (steemstem and stempede) grow on steemit!

Good luck to the three of you with this. I am curious as to how it is going to work. Should be a very fun (science!) experiment. At the very least I like the projects name and the symbol up top is fun!

worst case scenario, the stempede dies. and if it dies, it dies.

Linguistics, the science of language, is full of weird and wonderful things: unusual sounds, cool writing systems, weird grammar ...

In France, linguistics finds a place among STEM specialties.
For example, the French science magazine La Recherche (
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/La_Recherche) includes articles on linguistics from time to time:

https://tinyurl.com/recherche-linguistique

LINK SHORTENED FROM: Shttps://www.google.com.tw/search?num=100&dcr=0&source=hp&ei=w9sjWsfrJ4a20QS-xoWQAg&q=site%3Awww.larecherche.fr%2F+linguistique&oq=site%3Awww.larecherche.fr%2F+linguistique&gs_l=psy-ab.3...1308.10535.0.10849.20.19.0.0.0.0.127.1574.15j3.18.0....0...1c.1.64.psy-ab..2.9.878.0..0i13i30k1j0i22i30k1j0i13i5i30k1j33i160k1j33i21k1.0.b2EOqFgHau0

Unfortunately, linguistics doesn't seem to have a place in Steem. Maybe it could be accomodated under STEM?

Hello & Cheers!! I'm a content detection and information bot. You are receiving this reply because a short link or links have been detected in your post/comment. The purpose of this message is to inform your readers and yourself about the use of and dangers of short links.

To the readers of the post: Short links are provided by url shortening services. The short links they provide can be useful in some cases. Generally their use is benign. But as with all useful tools there are dangers. Short links can be used to hide all sorts of things. Quite frequently they are used to hide referral links for instance. While not dangerous this can be deceptive. They can also be used to hide dangerous links such as links to phishing sites, sites loaded with malware, scam sites, etc. You should always be extremely cautious before clicking on one. If you don't know and trust the poster don't click. Even if you do you should still be cautious and wary of any site you are sent to. It's always better to visit the site directly and not through a short link.

To the author of the post: While short links may be useful on some sites they are not needed on steemit. You can use markdown to format your links such as this link to steemit. It's as simple as [steemit](https://steemit.com) Unlike short links this allows the reader to see where they are going by simply hovering over the link before they click on it.

This message was created by a bot. It is part of the ongoing fight against spam and phishing attacks on steemit. If you did not use short links in your post and feel you have received this message in error you can contact @fubar-bdhr on discord or @fubar.bdhr on steemit chat to report the issue.

wow nice good keep it up god will help you :)

The 'forth' most rewarded post?

Maybe he means forth, as in henceforth?

Either it's spelled wrong, or the grammar makes no sense.

Typos! XD
