Infrared light has great application in chemistry. It is the basis of infrared spectroscopy which is an analytical technique that chemists employ to determine the functional groups that are present in a molecule.

You are correct @saintgentle, thanks for your input. The interaction between infrared radiation with molecules of organic and Inorganic compound helps chemist in identification of compound through functional group determination.
