INTRODUCTION TO THE BASIC CHEMICAL ENGINEERING CONCEPTS FOR BEGINNERS #3

Good morning #steemit

Wow today's a wonderful day yet again. It's a day of giving and receiving gifts, treasure, love texts from your love ones. So at this point I would like to share my own gifts to you.

''It's a gift of knowledge''

I know what your thinking! Am i for real? But the truth is yes I am;Remember knowledge is power, so indirectly it's also precious. Funny right?
OK enough joking around!!! Let's begin.

The previous posts we discussed about the concepts of chemistry and chemical engineering and its influence to human life and I also explained the term chemistry and its significance in the field of engineering. But if you missed it, simply click on the link below to review them.

All things being said and explained. Today I would simply discuss briefly on the content chemical apparatus and tools commonly used in the laboratory. Please do well to Pay attention, OK.

Let's begin

What is a laboratory?

You would be wondering if Am still joking around, but am not. Before even reaching the atmosphere of our content today, I would like you all to know what a laboratory is!!

It is simply a room, building or institution equipped for scientific research and experimentation or analysis
Or rather it is a place where chemicals drugs or microbes are prepared or manufactured
.

What are chemical apparatus/tools?

Chemical laboratory apparatus are tools, equipment or devices commonly used by engineers and scientists in a laboratory.

They are also simple or complex tools used by students in the laboratory to conduct experiments or task for research purposes
.
In other words, laboratory tools are used to conduct experiments or test.

Different Tools used in Laboratory are as Follows:

  • Simple Tools
  • Complex Tools

What is the difference between the Simple and Complex Tools used in the Laboratory?

  1. Simple Tools: are basic tools commonly used by students or freshers in a school,or home Laboratory.
  2. Complex Tools: are more advance tools used by chemist, engineers, doctors in the hospitals, industry, big laboratory to conduct wide experiments for the benefit of their profession.

Simple Laboratory Tools

Like I said earlier, Simple laboratory tools or apparatus are used in a small laboratory by students, freshers, undergraduates to conduct little experiments for either project or assignment works.

Types of Simple Chemicals Laboratory Tools.

Dropper
Gas jar
Beaker
Flasks
Tests tubes
Measuring Cylinder
Condenser
Kipps Apparatus
Separating Funnel
Desiccators
Crucibles

  • Dropper: is used to handle or transfer simple liquids from one container to another.
  • Gas Jar: is a tube with a broad base and a broad opening used for collecting gases for experiments.
  • Beaker: is used as a container for various liquids and also used to measure devices.
  • Flask: is a vessel used to carry a liquids during an experiment.
  • Condenser: is used to cool hot vapor or liquid suspended on the atmosphere or in air.
  • Kipp's Apparatus: is used to supply and produce gas by heating a solid with a liquid.

Types of Complex Laboratory Tools

autoclave
microscope
centrifuge
Thermal cyclers
Photometer
incubators

  • Autoclave: is a strong, pressurized, heated vessel used to sterilize lab tools.
  • Microscope: is a optical object used to view or imaging very little object not visible to the eye.
  • centrifuge: is a device used to separate a denser and lighter material dispersed in liquid by spuning about a central axis at a high speed.
  • photometer: is a laboratory tool used to measure various aspect of the intensity of light.
  • incubators: is a lab apparatus used to maintain environmental conditions suitable for a chemical reaction.

There are so much more apparatus used in the laboratory that I didn't mention but if you ever need more of them kindly click on the link below:
More to chemical and laboratory equipments

And that's all for now

Stay turned for more relevant posts on my blog. Don't miss out!! Because next post i would emphasize more on the content chemical reactions and laboratory tests conducted

God bless you all

And I wish you all a wonderful, exciting, perfect Christmas/boxing day celebration.

Happy new year celebration in advance

Merry Christmas and it is really nice to meet a researcher here !! So you work on chemistry too?

Btw, I am currently hosting a science picture contest with 30sp and ~20sbd prize. Feel free to see if you are interested :D
