SHARKS! MENACES OR BLESSINGS???

in #steemstem7 years ago (edited)

Hello steemians.
When you hear the word, shark I'm sure the first image that pops in mind is a gruesome and graphic attack. Well, I'm here to correct that misconception.

To most people, the shark is no favourite, thanks to its scary teeth and enormous body mass.
Many sees it as a menace, an implacable eating machine with little in it's brain besides an urge to sink it's jaws into humans. But while shark attacks do happen, They are much rarer than the purveyors of scary movies would have you belive.

The US records 19 shark attacks each year.
And one shark attacks fatality every two years.

The shark; Selachimorpha (botanical name), is a marine organism which it's length ranges from 4 inches to 70 feet!
And the weight ranges from under 1 ounce to 15 tons!!
I'm please to tell you that, Not all sharks are the attacking sort. This is because, About 90% of the 440 species of shark (including the largest) pose NO THREAT to humans.

Sharks are very valuable, They play a very crucial role in cleaning up the oceans, gobbling up diseased creatures and refuse.
Scientists have studying their defense system since they seem to be free of cancer or major infections.

Sharks reproduces very slowly (giving birth to as few as two babies, or pups, in a year).
This would make it hard for them to bounce back when/if near-extinction.

Fortunately,The US marine fisheries has since produced a 100-page plan to protect the sharks..

EVERYONE HAS A ROLE
