This article was very helpful in understanding the state in which quantum computing currently is.
I really hope this new technology can eventually be developed in a proper way, although it does sounds like something very difficult to achieve. But with time anything is possible.
Who would have thought 50 years ago that today we would have gadgets like modern smartphones? Only Issac Asimov I guess :P
You are right and we can hope, the only thing that bothers me is that it's been decades since the idea was proposed. But we never know, It might just take a moment of brilliance to get it all worked out
