It has been a very interesting festive period in the English Premier League. The star match of the last round was definitely the London Derby between Arsenal and Chelsea with both sides playing an entertaining 2-2 draw but it was Mahrez who emerged as the top performer of week 22 with his goal and assist for a rejuvenated Leciester team against Huddersfield.

**Top Picks Week 23**
This weekend there will be no EPL matches as its the 3rd round of the FA cup. The EPL will resume on the 13th of January. Manchester city who are still unbeaten this season travel to an in-form Liverpool team, would be great to see if Liverpool can end the unbeaten run of Manchester city, a team regarded by many as the best team of the premier league era.
Every week I try to pick the best FPL team based on the following conditions:
* Players form
* Difficulty of opponent
* Player must be priced £9 or lower
* A team can’t have more than 3 players selected in the team
Find below my top picks for Week 23.
Lloris: Goalkeeper Spurs
Alonso: Defender Chelsea
Azpilicueta: Defender Chelsea
Otamendi: Defender Mancity
Bellering: Defender Arsenal
Sterling: Midfielder Mancity
Son: Midfielder Spurs
Ali: Midfielder Spurs
Lingard: Midfielder Manutd
Mata: Midfielder Manutd
Depoitre: Forward Huddersfield
I opted for a 4-5-1 formation.
Thank you for following @steemsports and you can find me @datageek
I think Mahrez has proven himself enough with Leicester and I think he is capable of making the step up to a top four team.
I do not support the way he is trying to force the move to a bigger club though by missing training and being unsettled. I believe he will be sold if the right offer comes in for him.
