Decisions Decisions...
Hi friends,
I’m facing a bit of a dilemma. I quipped with 510 a couple weeks ago that if i “booked my gig” then i would finally get a real Morgan Dollar. Now i already have several of them, but none of them are graded, and nor would they be designated very high if i were to have them graded. Read: none of them are very shiny.
So i booked my gig — hurrah! — i have been paid, and i already have a little credit with @silverd510 for an exchange we’re in the midst of. Now apparently 510 knows everything about high-grade Morgans, and a simple query to him resulted in having a brief, comprehensive and precise explanation returned in very few, yet well chosen words: like a 30yr experienced mechanic explaining how a carbuerator works...and holy hell — carbuerators are expensive! 😜🤣🤣🤣🤩
But boy are they nice.
(goog pic)
So i’m thinking about it. But also, i have been carrying around the Peace Dollar that @summertooth sent me, this one ⤵️
And i keep on liking it more, and more! Now granted it is not as old as a Morgan, and there is something to be said for collecting American Constitutional Silver from two centuries ago, but damn if i don’t just absolutely adore the design!
And then 510 went and posted this!
https://steemit.com/steemsilvergold/@silverd510/just-s-quickie
Which featured this beautiful girl!
So now as i sit here deliberating whether to buy another beer and fondling my new pocket-piece i find myself torn...
Kickass Peace Dollar or kickass Morgan?
I’m sure ol’ 510 has forgotten more about Peace Dollars than most will ever know, and if he is only half as knowledgible about them compared with his Morgan science, then i know i’m dealing with the right guy. And, he’s funny as hell too and has a mind for others. So...
Peace Dollar or Morgan?
I wanna’ get a good one, and the history of the Morgan’s appeal to me — freakin’ 19th Century yo! — but i must confess i like the design of the Peace Dollar more. Hmmmm, and, yeah yeah yeah i know — totally great problems to have! But what would YOU do? I want to acquire a “gooder,” primarily for aesthetic enjoyment but also as a possible legacy piece for one of my boys, or failing that, a mere smart investment.
What would you do? Let’s say up to $125-150 usd. And although “buy 9-10 ounces of generic rounds” is possibly the smartest reply there is, that bit of cheeky is not what i’m looking for.
Gorgeous Morgan or Gorgeous Peace Dollar?
What would you do?
Cheers! from @thedamus
🤩😁🤟🍻⚔️💣⚔️🎱🦅
And just because “cool is the rule,” let’s have another look at what @fat-elvis sent me last week...
I do not 'yet' have my favorite Silver Dollar, which is a Graded Carson City Morgan Dollar.
My recommendation is to get a Carson City Morgan Dollar. They are quite expensive with huge premium due to high collectible value.
Thanks for input @goldkey! I’ll talk to 510 about that 😎👍👍
Nice title there, no one wishes it to be ruined and neither me so it's sad to say.
You just received a 100% upvote from @rewards-pool. Thank You for being apart of the @rewards-pool community
I've just upvoted your post!
just a micro support for a fellow steemian, I hope you'll appreciate it ;)
Book another gig. Get one of each. Then each boy gets a legacy piece in the future and you get two fine ladies for now. 😉😄
👱🏻♀️👩🏻
If i could choose to work (at my game) when i wanted to, both boys would have a legacy piece and i would have an Ag Harem!
😜
hehehe...you are right, @dfinney... that is the way to go... get both!!
Thank you for your continued support of SteemSilverGold
Your 1879 Morgan is a San Francisco Mint product. Not sure, though it looks like it has the reverse of 1878. It appears uncirculated. Your 1926-S Peace dollar also is a San Francisco Mint product, circulated and cleaned. Nice pocket piece though. Never hurts having a few rolls around as a cash stash. Your Zombucks are nice collectibles and quite some artwork, but they do command a premium for an ounce of silver. Your center morgan is a replica, but one-ounce round. Sorry to say , but i think your 1921 is not a genuine product and probably not silver. In either case your interest in numismatics and the like is a very interesting and education and potentially profitable hobby. In any case Thedamus, you can get a really nice problem free AU -58 1921 Peace dollar for about 125. or you could get a couple of really nice MS-63 common date Morgans for 60.00 each, and these would be graded coins. Success in your pursuit of art, economics, metalurgy, finance and history. More info can be found at the ANA website, money.org and at your local clubs and coin shows. Happy hunting.
Thanks for your detailed assessment hali! I’m pretty sure the 1921 above is legit, although i haven’t tested it. But thanks for your comment and great suggestions about which coins i ahould keep an eyeball out for.
Cheers!
Congratulations @thedamus!

I am Just Going to Sit Back and Watch The FireWorks @thedamus
Knowing you, you’re gonna’ find a Morgan gem in your lcs’ drop box! Lofl
😜👍👍
I love both. For me, personally, I chose to collect the graded Peace Dollar, because realistically, it is the collection that I can complete in my lifetime. They were minted only for a brief period. Also it was the last large US circulating dollar in silver. The Ike silver dollars minted in the 70s were never circulated. The Goddess Liberty looks young in the Peace Dollar which I like and she is wearing a Tiara with rays like that of the sun that is similar to the Statue of Liberty, and the Eagle design is truly nice. So I find that Liberty in the Peace dollar is more meaningful than the Morgan which is just a woman. But I love both. Both are beauties.
Okay, alright! I like the way you think saver. I too like the eagle and Miss Liberty on the PD more, but need to research perceived values of each a little better before i pull the trigger. 👸🏼🦅
If in doubt get one if each.
You’re just too posh sometimes Welshie
