The reverse of today's coin features the now extinct huia bird perched on a branch with the words NEW ZEALAND above and SIXPENCE 1934 below .

Oh no... the huia bird is extinct! That is so sad!!!! They have another bird endemic to New Zealand, the Kiwi.... a bird that cannot fly and no tail.
