Backyard Metal DetectingsteemCreated with Sketch.

Hi Friends,

The other day, my 4 year old son and I embarked on a metal detecting adventure (I called it a treasure hunt) in the backyard to see if we could find anything.

We were using a Garrett pin pointer to do our detecting, so certainly nothing fancy. I started off by hiding a nickel in some grass so my son could get a feel for the metal detector. Once he had it, we started looking around. Here is what we found in half an hour:

Some nails, screws, miscellaneous metal and a penny were found! My son enjoyed the treasure hunt, but we were then off to play with trains and dirt:

We will have to finish the backyard and then work on the front yard sometime soon!

Thanks for coming by today,
Brian

That metal detecting looks like a lot of fun btw, I still need to get me one of those.

It feels it was just like yesterday that I am also playing with my toy car and dragging it with a string around our house after seeing your kid there. @brian.rrr :D

Nice job getting him into detecting! It's an addictive hobby!

I have not done too much myself but it does seem like something I would get addicted to!

I'm a bot. I detect haiku.

What a great way to show and share with your son your passion for metal detecting. Did he enjoy it! I know my Dad and Mom exposed me [and my brothers] to several things. I do remember that as early as 7 years old [my brothers were older], our arents would bring us to the shooting range.

I know exactly what you mean, and these memories stick with us forever. For me, it was going on fishing trips and camping 😃

No gold but at least you got something.
