Homeschool help for parents - Gr 2 Reading and writing
If your child is in Grade 2 they must be able to read quite a few words already.
It is important that they keep on practicing every day and most important is that they sound out the words if they cannot read it and they must understand what they read.
Use the following reading piece to help them practice reading and then complete the questions to test their comprehension.
Going back to school
It is Monday and the children is returning to school after the holidays.
"Hallo Susan". "Hallo Thato". Miss Joy is happy to see all the children in her class.
"What did you do this holiday?" asks Miss Joy.
"I went to the beach," says Susan. "I played in my garden," says Thato.
Everybody is happy and cannot wait to start learning.
Answer the questions
- What day is it?
- Who are the characters in the story?
- What did Susan do during the holiday?
- Why are the kids happy?
- Write 5 sentences on what you did during the holiday.
