New bill could add 'sexting' lesson to sex ed classes

It seems there has been a lot of new things talked about that is related to kids. This one is the weirdest of them all. Because of high use of cell phones among teens we are in a world where we now want to teach our kids about sexting during sex education within our school system. This may be tested in the state of Illinois who is proposing such a thing. As i mentioned in my last entry about "banning use of cellphones until age 21" a lot of kids these days have a smart phones. It's way too easy to share photo's as well as videos these days. Back when i was a teenager cell phones didn't even have cameras on them and if you did have one it was a top of the line phone you got with a contract and there was no true way to share unless you download the pictures to your computer. Now you can take pics/videos and upload to instagram which is a hit program a lot of teens use these days. With programs like snapchat you can take a photo and send it to someone where once they open it will be deleted. There are ways to extract the photo as well as the videos. Parents are always finding a way to prevent such things but kids always find apps that pretend to be one thing and really something we at least expect.

With how easy it is to talk to anyone these days using a fake profile and all you never know who is on the other side. Imagine your teenage daughter texting a guy she met online who she thinks is her age and starts sending the person nudes. It ends out being a 40 year old pervert that probably is on a list somewhere. Having this type of sex education is needed but i personally feel it needs to be done by the parents and not of a school teacher. Also limiting the use of cell phones could help resolve this but don't forget about laptops and webcams in general that could be used for "private shows"

What are your thoughts on this? Do you have teenagers yourself and worried about this type of thing?
