RE: Vivo Y91 - A Hands-On Review

in #steempress6 years ago

MTK vs Snapdragon...the difference is kinda noticable under certain workloads (especially gaming), but if it can run PUBG it should be fine lul. Mine could also handle PUBG but at the lowest settings, which is kinda a pain in the eyes :3 Not a fan of that game so whatever. Mine is something that goes 50% 1.7GHz and 50% 2.3GHz (Kirin 659) so the performance should be similar, I guess. I have 1GB more RAM, though. But I never use that much so we can ignore that

The camera seems to be okay with the price. Meanwhile the resolution... :pain: You know, once you get an upgrade, downgrading is never an option. But it might be designed on purpose to keep the phone running smoothly. I normally turn down the resolution to 720p before playing Cytus for the fps, so yeah it should make sense with the somewhat limited specs of the phone.

Bloat is the signature of most smartphones, live with it :^) And regarding your alarm clock that gets killed while in background, if it's a third party app, it's Android's natural design so just prevent using them or lock them in the Recents menu (Google to see how to do that). If it's the stock alarm app, then it's your FunTouch OS' fault lul. It might not be the case though, unless the company wants chaos, which under sane terms they should not :3

Earphone jack? I guess you got the right phone.

I would say that it's a good choice for everyday normal users that does not play demanding games. PUBG, Honkai Impact, Afterlife, Cytus II and other visually demanding games might not be a good choice on them, but for Facebook, Wechat, normal browsing, it could do much better than demanded. The device's look is also pretty okay, without a huge ugly notch :D

Now I completed the whole article, shoot me a cookie, nom

And I guess you deserve a cookie for this post too, let's see if it delivers :3

This phone handles PUBG pretty well despite at lowest graphic settings, though not all details in it but I don't mind (though always got killed by people hiding in the grass during Top 10 but whatever).

Aaaaaaaand I'm happy to announce the first app that LITERALLY crashed in my phone due to potatoness: Asphalt 9 (crashed before I can even play the tutorial stage. Uninstalled instantly :pain:). Perhaps I'll get something better in another 2 years and try on it again (maybe with Snapdragon processors? :nom:).

Hmm now you reminded me of the lock icon thingy at the Recent Apps menu. Thought that was only to prevent being killed when you batch clearing those unused apps. Guess I'll try it soon enough. Oh and thanks for the explanation for that autokilling mechanism.

Here. A cookie for you. 🍪

Ah and thanks for that big cookie. That's a quite big one. :nom:

It's actually very hard to find phones with Snapdragon processors over here... I only know that Xiaomi phones have them. Good luck finding them if you are going to in the future :3

An Android app crashing with 3GB RAM? I guess it's a result of poor optimizing :3 Remember that most iOS devices don't even have this luxury of specs and they still run smooth.
