Tips, Tricks and Meta Decks for Steemmonsters!
Hey all,
This is a guide for steem monsters, the newest and (in my opinion) the best decentralized trading card game released! (I'm a little biased!)
This is coming from a Diamond III player so if you have any extra tips you can comment them below. Upvotes and resteems are always appreciated!
Beginner Tip #1:
Don't over level your monsters
Well, this tip is only for people who aren't familiar with this game. Each time you level up your summoner, the summoner will be able to summon higher level monsters. Here is an example of the level cap system:
Deck Tip #2:
Look at the current meta for the ruleset and mana cap
This is crucial to do if you don't want to waste your time by constantly testing decks, losing elo, then finding a deck that works to regain the lost elo. Instead, you should check the most recent games at https://monsters.steempeak.com/battlechain and finding a counter to the decks that are currently winning. After spending 5-10 minutes building your anti-meta deck (or just copying the meta deck and slightly editing it), test it around 3 times to make sure you aren't losing just because of unfair matchups, then edit the deck again. Don't hesitate to edit your deck as soon as you realize that you can make it better.
Trick #3:
Only play at the start of each rotation
One way to increase your elo like CRAZY is to only play at the start of each rotation when everyone is still trying to figure out good decks. This only really works if you're good at deck building but usually water/magic decks tend to work well no matter the format. This is how I climbed to Diamond III.
Deck #4:
Here's my deck for the current format:
Peaceful Giant is a strong tank, mainly because in this format water/magic decks are meta so having the spineback turtle is much worse because the magic decks don't care about armor and the magic decks deal around 7 damage per turn (Context: Spineback Turtle has 7 hp and 3 armor whereas the Peaceful Giant has 10 hp at level 3)
The other three are there just to deal damage and the reason why I put the Enchanted pixie at the back is because abilities are disabled, so lower health characters can be put at the back safely.
Tip #5:
Quests
The relatively new quest feature allows you to get free packs. At the cost of winning ten games with a random splinter. Sounds easy right? It isn't. The biggest problem is that because people with less money usually focus one splinter, it means that in some cases quests are extremely difficult to complete (Because people are playing with level one decks to try to finish their quests). To make matters worse, quests don't rotate YET so you can't just wait it out. I have put that to the side for now but the only way to be able to complete these quests is for a conflict that favors the splinter that you have a quest to rotate in and to jump on the opportunity immediately.
So those are my tips! See you on the battlefields!
There's some good advice here. It's interesting to see how blue dominates with the abilities muted.
The league adjusts over time, and balances it out which is cool. I'm getting matched up against blue teams, but they're low level cards punching above their weight.
Some of these guys are in for a shock when the rules change again and they have level 2 and 3 cards and a ranking over 3000. I see a lot of skulls in your future...
But rules will change again when the new season starts and the new season will reset them a bit. So the players will get knocked back down and I think they might drop some more because of the way the new season will work. They will probably get stuck in low silver i'm guessing.
I just started playing the game and I'm trying to learn, tried this deck and it helped me win my first ranked game, Thank you for this great article with information
