Silver Spot Price DOUBLED in the first two months of 1974 ๐
The second round from my MAJOR LCS SCORE
is this "silver security" round. It was minted in 1974, a year that saw silver spot start the year at about $3.40, reach an all time high at $6.76 in late February and finally end the year around $4.50.

This round is really interesting to me, I love the stamped words and the message.
It's like someone had a bunch of these silver planchets sitting around at the beginning of the year then silver price doubled in the first two months of the year and the guy was like, "Oh shit! Time to make some $$$!"
He must have had access to some sort of coin press though as the words are almost perfectly aligned and the letters equidistant from each other.
It also has a smooth edge and reminds me of the little metal punch-outs I used to find in the new houses being built where I grew up.
I did find one of these for sale on ebay but it looks a little worse for wear.
Maybe we will get another double of silver in the year 2020.................Go get you some.

Everyone was into selling Silver back then!
I remember going into a large mall, and the LCS had piles of Sterling and "junk Silver"!
I hate to use that term but it stuck with me....Anyway I bought a few forks, spoons and a Silver Sterling bowl.....

Amazing! I have no idea about this round @silvertop, that was all just supposition. But I can just see folks who had silver at the beginning of the year crap themselves when it doubled in price and scramble to sell it if they had it.
You know so many people ( nonstackers ) just sell, they get Gold or Silver and the first thing they want to do is sell.....
They just don't understand....๐ค
