Hi everyone!

You want to learn German, but you're a bit lazy or busy to flick through dictionaries?

Here is an opportunity that will take the monotony out of your German learning experience:

This is the third day on which I'll be teaching you

10 carefully picked words

out of the 3000 most frequently used German words!

Go to the PART 1 of the German vocabulary building series!

At the end of the series, you will have 3000 words in your German vocabulary, and will be able to understand about 80% of the words in any German text.

All daily feeds will contain 10 carefully picked German words, along with:

  • the German article of the words
  • the English translation
  • a link to the pronunciation
  • an example sentence in German and its translation in English
  • if necessary, an image to help you understand the word!

German Core Vocabulary - PART 3 - Tuesday, January 9, 2018

  1. wie = how, like, as
    Example: Wie geht's dir?
    Translation: How are you?
    Go to the pronunciation!

  2. sein = his
    Example: Das ist sein Haus.
    Translation: This is his home.
    Go to the pronunciation!

  3. dass = that
    Example: Ich wusste nicht, dass es regnerisch war.
    Translation: I didn't know that it was rainy.
    Go to the pronunciation!

  4. er = he
    Example: Ist er zu Hause?
    Translation: Is he at home?
    Go to the pronunciation!

  5. auf = on, at
    Example: Der Apfel ist auf dem Tisch.
    Translation: The apple is on the table.
    Go to the pronunciation!

  6. für = for
    Example: Das ist für dich!
    Translation: This is for you!
    Go to the pronunciation!

  7. mit = with
    Example: Trinkst du Kaffee mit Zucker?
    Translation: Do you drink coffee with sugar?
    Go to the pronunciation!

  1. sie = they
    Example: Sie sind endlich hier!
    Translation: They are finally here!
    Go to the pronunciation!

  2. sein = to be
    Example: Kannst du morgen um 9:00 Uhr hier sein?
    Translation: Can you be here tomorrow at 9:00 o'clock?
    Go to the pronunciation!

  3. bei = at, in, for
    Example: Ich arbeite bei einer deutschen Firma.
    Translation: I work at a German company.
    Go to the pronunciation!
    Extra hint = The meaning and proper use of this preposition depends on the context most of the time, be careful with it!)
